The AML CFT ESCAY Project is coming to an end in a few months. But in its place, a new continent-wide project, bigger in geographic and wider in thematic scope will be launched by the European Union. This new project, a step up of our current project, will cover at least 50 countries and will support these countries in fighting against Illicit Financial Flows generated by transnational organised crime.
It’s going to be exciting times ahead for us and for all our State and institutional partners! And there will be more hands on the deck!
One of the new partners joining the upcoming project is Skatteverket, the Swedish Tax Agency. We were delighted to host in Nairobi last week, Tommy Carlsson and Caroline Österberg from Skatteverket who paid us a courtesy call at our offices. We discussed the upcoming project and possible ways of collaboration and complementarities. Our project leader Frédéric BAYARD presented the AML CFT ESCAY project and the successes we have achieved over the years, and how the new project will build on these successes. Tommy and Caroline on the other hand presented the work of the Swedish Tax Agency and its support to partner states through its International Capacity Building Projects.
With great work going on behind the scenes to make the new project a reality, we will keep you posted on new developments and we look forward to new successful collaborations and to greater joint achievements for the benefit of both Africa and Europe!
