Regional Conference of the Eastern Africa Anti – Corruption platform

Part of the AML-CFT ESCAY team attended the Regional Conference of the Eastern Africa Anti-corruption platform that was held in June in Nairobi.

The conference, convened by UNODC, EAAACA, and the Kenya Ethics and Anti-Corruption Commission, brought together practitioners and policymakers from the anti-corruption field, to brainstorm on the successes and challenges faced by Eastern African countries in fighting corruption, and to identify new priority areas for the countries to undertake to tackle corruption.

With the support of the European Commission, our AML-CFT ESCAY project works with partner States in East Africa – as well as in central and Southern Africa – to support countries in combating illicit financial flows, generated by organized crimes and by corruption. We work with public officials to build their capacity to investigate and prosecute financial crimes and in asset recovery and forfeiture.

We welcome opportunities such as this, to join hands with other initiatives and partners, working together to support African States to build their capacity in the fight against corruption and illicit financial flows, and thus helping the States stop the stealing of much-needed revenue for social and economic development.
