Development of Guidelines for Investigation & Prosecution of Terrorism Cases, Tanzania, April 2023

Our team has been in Arusha this week, the second time in a series of workshops we have envisioned to offer technical support to Tanzanian institutions to create standard Guidelines on investigation and prosecution of Transnational #organisedcrime, #moneylaundering and #terrorismfinancing.

With this activity, our mutual expected outcome is to enhance cooperation and coordination among all relevant stakeholders involved in the investigation and prosecution of organised crimes in Tanzania, especially terrorism and terrorist financing. The participating stakeholders include the National Prosecutions Service (NPS), the Directorate of Criminal Investigation (DCI), the National Counter Terrorism Centre (NCTC), the Office of The President, the Financial Intelligence Unit (FIU), the Bank of Tanzania (BOT), the Immigration Department, the Tanzania Revenue Authority, the Judiciary, the Prisons Service, the Capital Market and Securities and the Tanzania Insurance Regulatory Authority among others.

We partnered with Tanzania’s National Prosecution Services (NPS) to run these workshops and to develop these multi agency Guidelines and eventually to publish a Guidelines’ Handbook for use by the institutions in the country.

The third installment of the series is expected to take place next month.
